OPEN WATER - are you ready for the new season?..
by CHARLIE EVANS..

Are you ready for the next Open water season looming just around the corner?

The winter just past has been relatively kind in Port Phillip Bay with temperatures not dropping as low as in past years.

I have been lucky to spend time with committed swimmers who have reached personal goals over the winter season, and this has helped keep me motivated towards a healthy level of cool water exposure personally.

With slowly warming temperatures through spring, soon you will be able to consider re-entering the water whilst wearing a wetsuit.

If you haven’t acclimatised over the winter do not consider skin swimming just yet as the experience might leave you cold and disheartened.

Swimwell are about to ramp up open water classes again for the new season, these include Introduction to open water for swimmers who can comfortably swim 500 meters in the pool but are yet to try their skills in the open water.

Open water skills for those who are comfortable in the open water but feel they may not have reached their full potential around technique and confidence.

Our Open water squads have continued right through winter and continue to grow in numbers and availability, these are avaible for booking now.

If you have a fear of the open water for any reason at all, please reach out so that we can direct you to the right “next step” or course.

Our rivers, bays and oceans are open to all to enjoy and there is no need to feel alienated or uncomfortable in these spaces.

Swimwell are the experts in adult learning with highly skilled and trained teachers and coaches who will be open to tailoring a program to suit your personal needs without judgement. In fact, our coaches are energised via your journey to success.

I will be increasing my own offering of open water classes this spring and summer season, reach out directly if you would like to discuss a plan for your new season of learning.
